2017 Appeal Letter from our President
Dear Tennis Enthusiast,
The past year has been a great one for the sport of tennis in the Asheville Community. We have had 3 great new initiatives in 2017. Here are the highlights:
- Gold Balls - This movie, about Senior Tournament Tennis, filled the Fine Arts Theatre in March. Dedicated to the life of Dave Carey, this heartwarming story triggered excitement for our sport as our spring season began.
- Parks and Recreation Initiative - During the summer, we taught tennis to low-income, underserved youth at the Playground Programs of the Asheville Parks and Recreation Department. This program was possible due to a small grant from the USTA and private donations.
- Middle School Tennis - Due to the generosity of the Carey family, the ATA was able to support the Middle School Tennis teams in our County. The Conference had the post season tournament in October, and these teams felt our support.
Coming in February of 2018, Asheville will be hosting the first round of the Fed Cup. Tickets are almost sold out and the excitement of this event has the tennis community buzzing. Join the ATA in being a part of this great event!
The Asheville Tennis Association is a 501c3 non-profit corporation that depends on grants and private donations to grow and develop the sport of tennis in the Asheville area. May we ask that you consider making a tax deductible donation to the ATA at the end of the year.
