THANKS for your curiosity!

Terminettors™ Summer Camp is an NJTL (National Junior Tennis and Learning) program brought to Aston Park by the Asheville Tennis Association. It runs this summer June 22-26. Completely free of charge, we introduce the sport of tennis to 40 underrepresented youth in Buncombe County. Along with quality instruction, we present the kids with a camp t-shirt, a tennis racquet, and healthy snacks and lunches each day.

Could we use your financial help? YES!

If you would like to sponsor a child, the cost is $200 per child for the week. And if you can’t swing the entire amount, every little bit helps. Thank you!

See below to understand better what NJTL is all about, and how our Terminettors program spans into spring and fall each year.

The Origin of NJTL

Founded in 1969 by Arthur Ashe, Charlie Pasarell, and Sheridan Snyder, the NJTL was created as a way to gain and hold the attention of young people, with the hope of teaching them the importance of character, getting an education and becoming productive citizens.

Today, the NJTL network features more than 250 nonprofit youth development organizations that offer free or low-cost tennis and education programming to over 160,000 under-resourced youth each year.

NJTL is supported by the USTA Foundation, the national charitable organization of the USTA. The work done by its member chapters includes after-school tutoring that focuses on academic enrichment, a life-skills curriculum and, of course, tennis.

Our Local NJTL: Asheville Terminettors

The ATA’s local NJTL chapter is Terminettors. We partnered with Stephens Lee Community Center to launch our pilot National Junior Tennis & Learning after school program in 2021.

We now partner with Open Doors Asheville, Children First of Buncombe County, and My Daddy Taught Me That to bring spring and fall programming to our local youth, free of charge.

Kids are transported to and from Aston Park where we teach an hour of tennis, and then move into the clubhouse for a STEAM Academic Program with Bricks4Kidz or a Speaker Series. Past speaker topics have included financial literacy, physical therapy, healthy eating, mindfulness, and yoga.

In the Spring of 2026, we “graduated” 17 kids (2nd to 5th grade) from our 6-week program and look forward to our Fall coming soon! Some of the youth have been in our program for three years.

A heartfelt thank you to Aston Park Tennis Center and the City of Asheville for the use of the courts and clubhouse, and for their partnership in caring for our youth.

Our “Kids to the Courts” grassroots campaign raised more than $60k to purchase this 15-passenger van.
