Middle School Clinic & Match Play

Open to all rising 6th graders & current 6th-8th graders in Buncombe County.  Each session begins with a 1-hour clinic, taught by a teaching pro then match play for the remaining hour.  We're offering 2 - four week sessions:

Session 1 (CLOSED) - June 11th, 18th, 25th, July 9th (no clinic July 2nd) 
Session 2 - July 16th, 23rd, 30th, August 6th

Early bird pricing good till June 6th for Session 1 & good till July 11th for Session 2.  $10 increase thereafter.


High School Clinic & Match Play

Open to all current 9th-12th graders (boys & girls) in Buncombe County. 6-week session beginning July 22nd. Taught by area certified pros.

Our Beginner clinics utilize the the USTA 10 and Under format.  10 and Under Tennis was designed with the child in mind. We use smaller rackets and slower balls that allow children to get acclimated to the sport in a fun environment.

Advanced Beginners (7-10 year olds)

86th Annual City of Asheville Open Tennis Championships  

The City Open is the longest running USTA sanctioned tournament in the Southern Section.  It has a long and storied history of great players, great hospitality, and community support.  The Open is organized and administered by the Asheville Parks and Recreation Department, with support from the Asheville Tennis Association and the Pepsi Cola Bottling Company.

Who and When - Adults & Seniors:  The City Open is for everyone.  Recreation, Competitive, Professional and Junior Tennis Players.  All Divisions have both Singles and Doubles.  The first weekend of the Open, July 8-9, is for the NTRP (National Tennis Rating Program) Divisions of 3.5, 4.0, and 4.5.  The Senior Age Divisions of 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85 and 90 will be held from July 9-13.  The Age Divisions of 35, 45, 55 and Mixed Doubles are played the second weekend, July14-16.  And the Open Division, where the prize money is paid, will be held July 13-16.  

Who and When - Juniors:  Juniors play the following weekend, July 21-23.  Junior Divisions include the 18 & Under, 16 & Under, 14 & Under, 12 & Under and 10 & Under.  

Note:  12 & Under Division will play with the Green Dot ball.  10 & Under Division will play on the 60' Court with a low compression ball and up to 25" Racquet.

Who - Everyone:  Must be a current USTA member.  No exceptions.

Where:  All tournament matches played on the 12 Har Tru Clay Courts at the Aston Park Tennis Center, located at 336 Hilliard Avenue in Asheville.  

How to Enter - Adults:  2 ways to register for the Adult Open.  First, go to www.nctennis.com , click on tournaments, and insert Tournament ID# 703940817.  The home page for the City Open will come up and simply follow the instructions.  The second way to enter is to come by Aston Park Tennis Center and complete an Entry Form.  Cost for the Adult Open is $40 per Singles Entry and $20 per Doubles Entry (each player).  Entry Deadline is Monday, July 3 at 5:00 pm.  

How to Enter - Juniors:  Go online to www.nctennis.com , click on tournaments, and insert Tournament ID# 703940016.  The home page for the Junior City Open will come up, and simply follow the instructions.  Entry Deadline is Sunday, July 16.
